Use your label rate and your pool volume.
This calculator estimates the amount of pool flocculant to use based on the pool volume and the dose rate printed on the product label. Enter the pool size, choose gallons or liters, then enter the label dose per 10,000 gallons.
The result is shown in fluid ounces or milliliters. Because floc products vary, the label rate should always be used instead of a generic dose.
Flocculant gathers very small suspended particles into heavier clumps that settle on the pool floor. After the particles settle, they are removed by slowly vacuuming to waste.
Floc is generally used when the water contains fine material that is not being captured effectively by normal filtration. It is not a replacement for proper sanitizer, brushing, circulation, or filter maintenance.
No. Clarifier helps the filter capture fine particles, while floc causes particles to settle so they can be vacuumed to waste.
Settling time depends on the product and conditions. Many labels require the pump to remain off for several hours or overnight.
Floc may settle dead algae and debris, but it does not kill active algae. Sanitizer and proper algae treatment are still required.
Only when the product label allows it and the pool can bypass the cartridge while vacuuming to waste. Sending settled floc through a cartridge can create serious clogging.
Before adding floc, make sure you know exactly how the pool will vacuum to waste. Once that debris settles, it needs an exit—not a trip through the filter.
